J.B.Clowes was established in 1991 by Uttoxeter born Jonathan Clowes. Having been brought up in a traditional Staffordshire farming family with generations of knowledge and experience being passed down it was inevitable that this would play a big part in shaping Jonathan’s future business plans.
After starting out locally as a fencing contractor and hedge-layer serving agricultural, domestic and commercial clients covering Staffordshire and Derbyshire the business soon expanded to include landscaping and groundworks.
In 2006 Jonathan purchased New Farm in Morley, Derbyshire thereby fulfilling an ambition to own his own farm. He and the business relocated and immediately set about expansion!
After spotting a gap in the local market for a comprehensive and reliable stockist of fencing materials and tools, he began to source and supply a range of timber, gates and wire products for the agricultural and equestrian market. As word started to get around and the customer-base grew, additional product lines were continually added,until in 2009 the decision was taken to expand into the stocking of animal feeds and bedding. This transformed the business and served to satisfy the needs of the huge local equestrian market.
In early 2011 the business expanded again with a new building, storage yard and increased shop space to accomodate the ever-increasing product lines and stock. As for the future……………watch this space!
